New Classes: Following on from the success of Chi Kung Seminar, we will be starting classes on this subject in September. Due to be starting THursday 4th, 8pm-9.30pm at St.Matthew's school - more details coming soon ....

Sunday July 27th: Grade 7 Seminar, 12pm-3pm This free seminar is open to all members who have already taken grade 7.  Bob will be going through the new syllabus to make sure you know everything. If you are signed up for this but cannot make it, please let us know!

Sunday July 20th: Chi Kung Seminar with Grandmaster Brian Jones and Master Ricky Crofts. 12pm-4pm at St.Matthew's School. During the seminar he will run through exercises to massage accupuncture points, stretch, relax, invigorate, refresh, strengthen, and generally improve the state of your body, all with slow, simple movements (think of how Tai Chi looks).

This seminar will be £5 to CKF members, and £10 to non-members (this is purely to cover the hall hire and petrol). There are a maximum of 30 spaces. Please let me know if you are attending this seminar - payment in advance will be appreciated.

Thursday July 10th: Weapons Sparing Seminar 7pm- 10pm at St.Matthew's School. Chief ACT instructor Alex Zhelezniak is coming over from Israel to give a seminar on Weapons Sparring, focussing on the Medieval Longsword, Japanese Katana, and Spear. The whole session will be based on realistic practice fighting and sparring - the main emphasis in ACT is full strength non sportive fighting with as few rules as possible. Intensive Training: We have now started teaching Intensive Sessions on weekday mornings (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 11pm-12pm). These will be running along the same lines as the Saturday sessions. If you are interested in coming along to these sessions please let us know.

Sunday 29th June: Grade 6 Revision Seminar, 12pm-3pm

A big thank you to both Wayne and Master Steve Tappin for another excellent seminar in Escrima Concepts. As well as grading the Escrima students, Master Steve showed and helped us all understand the transition of body movement from unarmed, to small weapons, to large swords.

Congratulations and well done to all those who passed their Escrima grade, you all worked hard and achieved great results.

Sunday 22nd June: Escrima Concepts Seminar, St.Matthew's School, 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm
Grandmaster Steve Tappin and his son Wayne Tappin will be down for their first seminar this year (2nd one in December). EC students will be able to grade during this seminar.
The seminar is suitable for people of all abilities including complete beginners.
This is a great opportunity to see and learn from an amazing martial artist, even if you do not usually attend the normal Escrima classes as it will also
greatly benefit your Wing Chun. The cost of the Seminar is £30 in advance or £35 on the day (non Cambridge Kung Fu members £35/£40).

Thuursday 12th June: EC pre-grading with Wayne Tappin, 8pm

A big 'well done' to everyone who took their Wing Chun grading this week, you all worked very hard, and a big thank you to all those who helped out during the sessions.

June 9th: Grading week

Congratulations to Ross for passing his 2nd Technician Grade under Sifu Benno. He returned from Amsterdam battered and bruised, but still able to grade our own Wing Chun students this week. (click here for pics)

A big thank you to Duncan McEvoy from EHCG Liverpool, for an excellent seminar on Sunday. We all had a great time.

June 1st: Medieval Weapons Seminars, St.Matthew's School, 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm
Chapter Master Duncan MacEvoy from the European Historical Combat Guild will be teaching Long Sword and Polearms/staff. 
The cost will be £25 for the whole afternoon, or £12.50 for one session (non Cambridge Kung Fu members £30/£15). There are a maximum of 12 places so please book your place asap.

May 25th: SG5 Seminar, Gwydir Street Gym, 12pm-3pm
The free seminar is open to anyone who has already passed this grade with us.
Col will be going through the Sifu Benno grading syllabus so that you can revise everything you should know.

February 3rd: Chapter Master Duncan MacEvoy from the European Guild of Historic Combat is coming down from Liverpool to do a seminar on February 3rd, from 12pm - 3pm. Mainly on the Long Sword, but also looking at other medieval weapons, this is a great opportunity to have a go at fighting the way our ancestors did. £5 for members, £10 for non-members. There are only 20 places, so please contact Col@cambridgekungfu.com to reserve your place or for more details.

Sept 16/16 2007: Seminars:On the 15th and 16th of September Cambridge Kung Fu hosted two Wing Chun Seminars for Sifu Benno Westra. On Saturday the 15th Sifu gave a Chi Sau workshop to the senior students and Instructors of Cambridge Kung Fu and on Sunday the 16th Sifu gave an open seminar on the Siu Nim Tau form. We all had a great time and would like to thank Sifu for his teaching.

Congratulations to Daniel Rowson and Alex Krasodomski-Jones who both achieved four grade A's for their A-levels.  Daniel is going to read Engineering at Cambridge and Alex is taking a gap year before going to Oxford to read History.  Congratulations also to Ben Todd for achieving 5 A grades for his A Levels.  Ben will be taking a gap year and is applying this year to University.  Daniel, Alex and Ben are all long term students of mine and I am extremely proud of their achievements.  They have all managed to find the balance between excelling academically and in their Kung Fu practise and hopefully they can set an example for to all our young students in the years to come!
