Kids Classes All the Cambridge Kung Fu children's programmes have been uniquely designed by the instructor team in Cambridge, all our syllabus and games have been created or adapted by us using our knowledge of martial arts. I feel that this has really enabled us to do something different from what is generally available and thought of as children's martial arts, or indeed children's activities in general.
The classes are based on the children's school year. First of all our classes are divided into small age groups, as we aim to engage and challenge the children at their level and this level changes as the children mature, physically, mentally and emotionally. From sixth form, teenagers can join the adult classes. Our principle aim is to build self confidence - we believe that this is the fundamental resource that is needed to build a happy and successful life. Along with self confidence, other benefits and life skills we hope to achieve with our students are improved self discipline, coordination, balance, and general body awareness and control. We also hope to achieve something that is missing from so many children's lives in our society, which is a genuine love of physical exercise. We offer an alternative to the traditional sports and we are an avenue for success for many children who feel failures in today's academically driven school system. Mondays:5pm Little Dragons at St. Matthews Primary School. (map) No classes on bank holidays. Tuesdays:4.30pm Little Dragons at Cherry Hinton Community Junior School. (map) Implicitly we are teaching martial arts throughout our children's programmes, at the beginning the martial arts are almost completely implicit and as the children get older the balance between implicit and explicit teaching shifts. We always aim to make our classes appropriate to the age we are teaching, which is why every game we play has been carefully thought through to ensure the children are always developing as martial artists and as people.
