Monday 28th July - Friday 1st August: Kung Fu Summer Camp: We are running a kung fu summer camp for children in school years 2 and up (younger children may be allowed to attend in special circumstances). Activities include learning martial arts moves, fun games, and problem solving in teams.       Previous news items

We run classes for young people aged four to fifteen/sixteen.

•  Our Cambridge Kung Fu Tiny Tigers programme is for children in school years reception and year one, children aged four to six.

•  Our Cambridge Kung Fu Little Dragons Programme is for children in school years two and three, children aged six to eight.

•  Our Cambridge Kung Fu Junior Warriors Programme is for children in school years four to six, children aged eight to eleven.

•  Our Cambridge Kung Fu Youth Kung Fu Programme is for young people in school years seven to eleven, aged eleven to sixteen.

These classes are open to all children. In addition to this we run classes for Linton Infant School, St. Faith's Prep. School and The Perse Prep. School. We also run our own summer camp and run activities for other organisations holiday camps, including the Rascals clubs run by Cambridge Childcare and Colin Greenfields, communtity multi sports camps.

We run our classes in this way as we believe that most important thing is to first establish rapport with our students. By pitching our classes to the emotional level of the children we believe we are able to do this effectively. Once rapport has been established we are able to teach the skills we want to instil in the children from a position of trust, and this means that learning is done in the most efficient way. Children want to have fun and so we make our classes fun, this does not mean there is not structure and discipline because there is, however we are aiming to infuse the children we teach with the skills to manage their own lives successfully not just obey orders. It is self discipline we are interested in developing not external discipline from above. Of course there has to be a balance, boundaries have to be established and a certain level of behaviour is required, and if this is not adhered, then external discipline is necessary. In the philosophy page I go into more detail about how this approach is implicitly linked to the entire system of Wing Chun Kung Fu that we teach in the Youth Kung Fu and Adult Classes.

All our instructors are CRB checked and all have first-aid certificates.
