Assistant Instructor Profile - Alex Krasodomski-Jones
Martial Arts Experience:
I took up martial arts at Cambridge Kung Fu in 2004. Primarily I practice Wing Chun and Escrima, and will be soon be beginning Wing Chun classes in Oxford. I've recently taken up boxing, kickboxing and judo, too.
I've been lucky enough to be able to teach the kids' classes in Cambridge, which has been endless fun.
Instructors:
I've been lucky enough to find my perfect match relatively painlessly, and am training Wing Chun under Ross Sargent, Chief Instructor of Cambridge Kung Fu and representative of Sifu Benno Westra in England. I train Escrima Concepts under Col Maggs, practicing under Steve and Wayne Tappin.
Academic Qualifications:
I'm studying History at Oxford.
Goals:
In terms of martial arts, my primary goal is to try and share what I've got out of this discipline with others. I think there's a lot of illusion surrounding martial arts, not much of it very helpful, and strongly believe that everyone can get something out of it.
Personally, I want to conquer my fear of physical confrontation, which I believe lies in deepening my understanding of my own strengths and weaknesses. I also love fighting, and am training towards improving as an all-round fighter with the physique to match! I'd also like to keep training under my current instructors, who I find deeply inspirational.
Interests:
Martial arts aside, I'm really interested in philosophy of history and social theory and am lucky enough to be able to study them extensively. I love spending time with my family and friends, listening to music and playing unhealthy amounts of computer games.
